Outdoor Sketching

What a great group I had the pleasure to be with during our six weeks of outdoor sketching. Maybe you spotted a group of us on one Saturday mornings in June & July in and around the Newburyport and Plum Island area.

We were certainly blessed with wonderful weather, and only once did we seek the shelter of an indoor venue, but surprisingly not due to rain, but to extreme heat!

We experimented with various drawing tools, Charcoal pencils, Sketch wash pencils and graphite washes. Everyone tried out tinted paper, which quickly became a favorite to a few of us.

Assistance with perspective seems to be what was requested by most. We did have one class that concentrated on sketching people which was a refreshing change from straight lines and vanishing points.

Some of the group will be traveling with me to the Ogunquit area for a Sketching Workshop in September. I look forward to having more time with them.
